J’ai vu La Mariée était en noir la semaine prochaine; j’ai aimé le film. C’est commencé avec une femme parti chez mère pour Paris dans le train, mais elle a débarqé avant c’est parti la gare. La femme, qui s’appelle est inconnue, est allée un fête. Elle tuer un homme; nous n’avons su pas. Elle a chasseureuse; elle tuer cinq hommes.

Nous avons appris les hommes tuer son marie a la jour de mariage; elle a pris sa revanche.

Ada a faire du foot en deux matches aujourd’hui; le match premiere avec équipe normal mais le match deuxième a la faire avec les enfants âge.

Après faire du foot nous allons le jardin botanique à nourriture pâture les carnards at j’ai fini le après-midi dans le jardin avec la tronçonneuse.

Je fauchée ma clavicule à judo la semaine denier; mon médecin mourait. Il n’est pas mauvais, ma fille gagner un prix por joueuse la jour á le foot!

A la semaine prochaine j’appris un nouveau lancer en judo; cette semaine ne pas venir à cause des gobelins du morve.

Ada veut faire du foot. Je ne sais pas; mais toute façon papa, je aide.

Aujourd’hui nous faisons du coursé; nous sommes rentré avec protege-tibia et beaucoup petit les chaussures de football.

So, I didn’t get to writing anything for Lovelace day proper. This is probably because I was busy writing about Jean Reno for French class (il est pas rasé). Homework first, people. Although I guess if I was less stupified by poor sleep this week I would have thought to write about a famous woman and combined my homework with an educational exercise re: Lovelace day.

So, I don’t have that. I do, however, have this; a picture of Ada playing with her loaner OLPC, which provides her with many hours of entertainment and budding computer literacy.

Today in kiddie French we read Animal Farm for three year olds.

No, really.

The book was the story of le canard; le canard worked around the farm while the fat farmer lay in bed eating chocolates; le canard worked until he cried with exhaustion, at which point the other animals—la vache, les muttons, and a gaggle of others—stormed the house, threw the farmer from his bed, and chased him from the farm.

Then le canard returned to doing the work around the farm.

Probably the thing that stood out most from my first French lesson is the overloading of ça va; apparently there’s nothing it can’t do. Of course, trying to get this right in a room full of people where meaning can’t reliably be inferred as a result of the use of the rising inflection. Although that seems likely to be the least of my accent related crimes against the French language.
